The Office of International Affairs is hosting the "2024 Celebrate Diwali Festival" on November 11, 2024 (from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM).

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights or the Indian Festival of Lights, is one of India's most significant festivals celebrated between mid-October and mid-November in the Indian lunar calendar. During Diwali, households across India light candles or oil lamps, symbolizing light, prosperity, and happiness. On the day of the event,  Indian students will introduce the culture and history of Diwali, perform traditional dances, play games, and offer local Indian cuisine for everyone to enjoy! Please note that the number of slots is limited; register it now through the iAct system! **In response to environmental concerns, please bring your own containers and utensils on the day of the event.

排燈節是印度最著名的節慶之⼀,也稱光明節、印度燈節,於每年印度曆10⽉中⾄11⽉中舉⾏,印度當地會點燈或⽤串燈裝飾,也會燃放煙⽕慶祝。這個節⽇象徵著「以光明驅⾛⿊暗,以善良戰勝邪惡」。也有很多⼈將排燈節視為是財富⼥神拉克什⽶ (LAKSHMI)的節⽇,和財富⼥神⼀樣受到⺠眾歡迎的還有象神,也是排燈節的代表之⼀。祂被稱為智慧之神,能幫助⼈們克服所有阻礙。 在排燈節期間,家家戶戶和公共場所都會點綴上五彩繽紛的燈飾和傳統的油燈(DIYAS),還會在家⾨⼝或廟⾨⼝,⽤⼿⼯繪製藍果麗(RANGOLI)地 畫,⼈們共聚⼀堂分享節慶美⻝,互贈禮物,並參與祈禱和儀式。煙⽕照亮夜空,為節慶氛圍增添⾊ 彩。排燈節是⼀個家庭團聚、反思的時刻,也象徵著對更光明未來的希望!
